Peer Review Process

The peer review process is central to ensuring the quality and academic integrity of the articles published in Jurnal Ilmiah BETRIK Besemah: Teknologi Informasi dan Komputer. Our journal follows a double-blind peer review model, where both authors and reviewers are anonymized to maintain objectivity and fairness. The entire review process is designed to ensure that only high-quality research is published and that all manuscripts are evaluated based on their scientific merit and relevance to the field.

1. Manuscript Submission

Authors must submit their manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system. The manuscript should be prepared according to the journal’s formatting guidelines. Once a manuscript is submitted, it undergoes an initial screening by the editorial team to check for compliance with the journal's scope and formatting requirements.

2. Initial Evaluation by Editors

Upon submission, the editor-in-chief and editorial team conduct an initial evaluation to determine whether the manuscript fits the journal’s scope, and whether it meets basic quality standards, such as relevance, originality, and clarity. If the manuscript passes this evaluation, it is then sent for peer review. If the manuscript is deemed unsuitable, the authors will be informed and the manuscript may be rejected at this stage.

3. Peer Review Process

Once the manuscript passes the initial evaluation, it is assigned to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the subject matter of the manuscript. The peer review process is double-blind, meaning that both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other throughout the process.

  • Reviewers assess the manuscript for its scientific quality, novelty, methodology, relevance to the field, and clarity of writing.
  • Reviewers provide detailed feedback, including suggestions for improvement, and recommend whether the manuscript should be accepted, revised, or rejected.
  • In cases where there is disagreement between reviewers, the editor may send the manuscript to an additional reviewer or make a final decision based on the existing reviews.
  • The peer review process typically takes between 3 to 6 weeks, depending on the availability and responsiveness of the reviewers.

4. Decision Making

Based on the feedback from the peer reviewers, the editor-in-chief makes the final decision on whether to accept the manuscript, request revisions, or reject it. The possible decisions include:

  • Accept without changes: The manuscript is accepted for publication without any further changes.
  • Minor revisions: The manuscript requires some minor revisions, which the authors must address before resubmission.
  • Major revisions: The manuscript requires significant changes. The authors will be given a chance to revise and resubmit the manuscript for further review.
  • Reject: The manuscript is rejected and will not be published in the journal.

5. Communication with Authors

Authors will be informed of the review decision through the journal's submission system. If revisions are required, authors will receive detailed comments from the reviewers and editors to guide the revision process. Authors are encouraged to carefully address the reviewers’ comments and resubmit the manuscript. In case of rejection, the decision will be explained with constructive feedback for future improvement.

6. Confidentiality and Ethics

All parties involved in the peer review process, including the authors, reviewers, and editors, are required to maintain confidentiality. Manuscripts are not shared with anyone outside the peer review process. Reviewers must also refrain from using any information from the manuscripts for personal gain, and any potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed. Authors are expected to adhere to ethical research practices and avoid plagiarism or misconduct in their work.

7. Final Publication Decision

Once the manuscript has been revised (if necessary) and the editor-in-chief has made a final decision, the article is prepared for publication. Upon acceptance, the article is processed for layout and typesetting and made available online in the upcoming issue of the journal.

8. Post-Publication Review

After publication, the article may still be subject to further scrutiny, and any post-publication corrections or retractions will follow the journal's ethical guidelines. If substantial errors are identified after publication, the article may be corrected or retracted following due process.
