Article Processing Charge

Article Processing Charges (APCs)

1. APC Rates

The following Article Processing Charges (APCs) apply for all accepted articles:

  • Standard APC (for authors from Indonesia): IDR 0
  • Standard APC (for international authors): USD 0

2. What the APC Covers

The APC covers the costs associated with the entire publication process, including:

  • Peer Review: Managing the peer review process to ensure the quality and academic integrity of the research published.
  • Typesetting and Formatting: Ensuring that the article is professionally formatted for online and print publication.
  • Open Access Hosting: Providing open access to the article on the journal’s website and indexing it in global databases for increased visibility.
  • Editorial Costs: Managing the editorial team, processing the manuscript, and facilitating communication between authors, reviewers, and editors.
  • Digital Object Identifier (DOI): Assigning a DOI to the article for permanent online access and citation tracking.

3. When to Pay the APC

The APC is due after an article has been accepted for publication. Authors will be notified of the acceptance and the APC amount in the acceptance letter. Once the payment is received, the article will be processed for typesetting, final editing, and online publication.

4. Payment Methods

Authors can make payments through the following methods:

  • Bank Transfer (for Indonesian authors): Payment can be made through a local bank transfer to the journal's account.
  • PayPal or Credit Card (for international authors): Authors can pay using PayPal or major credit cards for international payments.
  • Other Payment Methods: Authors from countries where bank transfers or PayPal are not available can contact the editorial office for alternative payment arrangements.

5. Waivers and Discounts

The journal offers discounts and waivers for authors who face financial difficulties. This may include:

  • Full Waiver: For authors from low-income countries or who have extenuating financial circumstances. Authors must provide supporting documentation to request a waiver.
  • Partial Discount: For students or early-career researchers. Discount requests must be submitted along with proof of status (e.g., student ID or academic employment).

All waiver and discount requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Authors must contact the editorial office prior to submission or acceptance to discuss these options.

6. Refund Policy

Once the APC is paid and the article has been accepted, no refunds will be issued. If an article is rejected after payment but before publication, the APC will be refunded, minus any administrative fees. If an article is withdrawn by the author after acceptance, no refund will be issued. In the case of article retraction after publication, the APC is non-refundable.

7. Transparency and Fairness

Jurnal Ilmiah Bering ensures full transparency regarding Article Processing Charges. The APC rates are published on the journal’s website, and authors are notified in advance of the charge. We aim to keep APCs affordable while maintaining high editorial and production standards. Our APC structure is intended to ensure that the journal remains financially sustainable while providing free access to high-quality research for the global academic community.
