This study explores in-depth information about the social function responsibilities of street children's families as a form of social functioning. The purpose of this study is to gain an in-depth understanding of the implementation of social functions in street children's families, from the perspective of street children's involvement and family income distribution; and to describe the implementation of social functioning in street children's families. This research is descriptive qualitative, aiming to accurately describe the subject's situation. The target of this study were street children's families in Bengkulu City. Thirteen informants, consisting of parents of street children and the street children themselves, participated. Three conditions that represent the involvement of street children in family economic activities are: 1) Children engage in economic activities on the streets of their own free will, seeking to help their parents earn additional family income; 2) Children engage in economic activities on the streets with the encouragement of their parents to help them earn a source of family income; 3) Children engage in economic activities on the streets of their own free will, seeking to meet their own needs and avoid burdening their parents. The conclusions of this study are: 1) The basic needs of street children and their families can be met based on the availability of basic needs for each family. However, the achievement of children involved in economic activities as a means of earning family income indicates that parents' responsibilities have not been fully fulfilled in the social functioning of the family, because children are not yet directly involved in fulfilling their own basic needs, let alone meeting the needs of their families, regardless of their motivation; 2) The economic conditions of families with minimal income are one of the causes of children becoming street children; 3) Every child has the right to have their basic needs met and to receive protection from all forms of economic exploitation and neglect while in the care of their parents or any other party responsible for their child's care; (4) Parents or families of street children must be empowered to function socially as sources of solutions to address the vulnerability of children developing into street children.
